TitleAnaesthetic inhaler
DescriptionA leather anaesthetic inhaler of tapering form, very similar to a Morgan-type inhaler, c.1880s-1890s. The surgeon John Morgan introduced an inhaler in this shape in the 1880s, which was intended to improve control of anaesthetic dosage. A sponge soaked in ether was introduced at the end, and the glass phial on the bottom possibly used to measure the concentration inside the device.
